At the Silicon Plains International Summit 2026, organized by MGM University and Discover Labs AI, an innovative healthcare solution garnered attention for enhancing early cancer detection. The student team from Deogiri Institute of Engineering and Management Studies, under the startup name Nirvana, showcased an AI-based system designed to aid doctors during colonoscopy procedures. This technology functions as a “second pair of eyes,” analyzing thousands of video frames generated during endoscopies to automatically detect polyps—small growths that may develop into cancer. Human fatigue often leads to missed polyps during these procedures, but Nirvana’s AI effectively examines each frame, identifying hidden polyps and blind spots. Utilizing computer vision tools like OpenCV, the system achieves nearly 98% detection accuracy, highlights suspicious areas, and assesses risk based on patient data and lifestyle. This advancement has substantial implications for improving early diagnosis and empowering medical professionals in making critical decisions regarding patient care.
