Privacy Concerns Prompt Government Departments to Transition to T-Fiber for AI Tool Usage

The Telangana government is accelerating the migration of state offices to its T-Fiber internet services, with only 3,484 out of numerous offices having switched. Initially mandated in 2024, compliance has been slow, prompting reminders from the IT, Electronics, and Communication Department. T-Fiber aims to provide secure internet at competitive rates, encouraging entities to replace private ISPs like ACT and Airtel. However, misconceptions about T-Fiber being free persist. Concerns have risen regarding government personnel using generative AI tools, risking data exposure, a situation T-Fiber could mitigate by providing governance and monitoring capabilities. The T-Fiber network caters to 26 districts, covering 8,895 gram panchayats and charging between Rs 22,000 to Rs 9,21,325 annually based on connection speed. This switch aims to enhance cybersecurity and retain financial resources within the government while expanding internet services across rural and urban areas.
