Google has introduced Doppl, an AI-driven app that enables users to create animated videos of themselves wearing various outfits by uploading full-body photos. This innovation builds on Google’s previous virtual try-on features by transforming static images into dynamic videos that showcase clothing movement and fit. Available exclusively in the US for users aged 18 and older on Android and iOS, Doppl allows users to either upload their own images or use an AI model for outfit previews. However, concerns about misuse arise, particularly regarding the potential for impersonation using others’ photos, despite Google’s impersonation rules and safeguards. To mitigate this risk, Doppl will incorporate invisible watermarks for tracking generated content. Google’s privacy policy states that user-uploaded images will be anonymized and utilized to enhance AI technology, ensuring data is not linked to individual accounts before any human review.
