This AI assistant allows users to ask questions during video playback without interruptions. Currently being tested among select users over 18, the feature supports multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean. When available, an Ask button appears below the video player, enabling viewers to select prompts or use their remote’s microphone to ask questions. The AI provides answers, summarizes video content, breaks down tutorials, and highlights key takeaways while maintaining the viewing experience. This move aligns with the rising trend of TV viewership, as YouTube adapts its services for the living room. Competing platforms like Amazon and Roku are also enhancing their AI capabilities. However, the rollout of longer, unskippable ads for TV viewers has garnered criticism. YouTube plans to expand the feature based on user feedback, prioritizing a seamless interactive experience.
