The Leading Countries Embracing Generative AI Tools: Insights and Reasons Behind Their Adoption

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into everyday life, particularly in European workplaces. According to Eurostat, only 15% of individuals aged 16 to 74 utilized AI for work in 2025, with significant disparities among countries. Norway leads at 35.4%, followed by Switzerland at 34.4%, and several Nordic nations showing high adoption rates. In contrast, Hungary reports only 1.3% workplace AI use. Professors emphasize that successful AI adoption requires investment in skills, organizational culture, and trust-building governance. Overall AI usage in the EU stands at 32.7%, revealing that less than half utilize AI professionally. Countries with supportive frameworks see higher usage, while Eastern and Southern European nations lag behind. OECD data predicts a 68% surge in personal generative AI use from 2024 to 2025, driven by larger firms and sectors like ICT and media, hinting at potential future growth in workplace adoption.
