DoorDash Unveils “Tasks”: A Standalone App Featuring an AI Agent for Dashers

DoorDash has launched a new standalone app, Tasks, for its Dashers, allowing them to earn extra money by completing short activities that generate valuable data for AI training. Tasks involve filming everyday chores—like loading dishwashers or folding clothes—and capturing audio in various languages. Pay varies but can exceed $20 for complex tasks. This data enhances DoorDash’s AI models and supports partners in sectors like retail and hospitality. The Tasks app offers gig workers flexibility, allowing task completion during downtime. Additionally, DoorDash introduced Dot, a compact autonomous delivery robot designed for efficient last-mile deliveries. Dot, capable of carrying 30 lbs and traveling at 20 mph, is equipped with advanced sensors for safe navigation. Initially deployed in Phoenix with plans for broader U.S. expansion, Dot aims to address driver shortages and improve delivery speed while supporting the evolving AI data economy. This strategy underlines DoorDash’s commitment to scalable autonomy and sustainable practices.
