Google has announced the decommissioning of Firebase Studio, its full-stack AI workspace, with a shutdown date set for March 22, 2027. Initially launched in April 2025, Firebase Studio will sunset as part of Google’s strategy to streamline AI developer offerings. The company stated that lessons from Firebase Studio will be integrated into its flagship tools, Google AI Studio and Google Antigravity. Migration tools are rolling out now, and new workspace creation will end on June 22, 2026, allowing users a full year to transition projects before data deletion in 2027. Core backend services, such as Cloud Firestore and Authentication, will remain operational outside of Studio. Developers are encouraged to use Antigravity for “code-first, agentic development” and Google AI Studio for “rapid, browser-based prototyping.” This consolidation aims to enhance developers’ workflows and provide access to cutting-edge features within Google’s ecosystem, ensuring a seamless transition for AI-driven development.
