Apple to Develop Streamlined Google Gemini Models for Enhanced Localized AI Features on iPhone, Report Says

Apple has officially partnered with Google to utilize the Gemini model for enhancing Siri and other AI features. Reports reveal that Apple now has full access to Gemini within its data center, allowing it to create smaller, tailored models that can run directly on devices, optimizing performance while conserving computational power. This includes the ability to “distill” knowledge from the larger model into these smaller variants, enhancing user experiences. Scheduled for unveiling at WWDC 2026, the new Siri will feature a chatbot-like app that records past conversations and provides proactive suggestions, such as avoiding traffic for airport pickups. Users will enjoy enhanced functionalities like saving chats, searching interactions, and more.

Additionally, Siri is set to evolve as a system-wide AI agent, integrating seamlessly with apps and utilizing personal data to complete tasks, access news, and perform web searches. The revamp aims to elevate Siri’s usability and intelligence vastly.
