Apple is exploring partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic to enhance its Siri AI, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Struggling to develop an advanced “LLM Siri,” Apple has reportedly tasked these companies to create tailored versions of their large-language models for testing on Apple’s private cloud infrastructure. Research by Apple’s Rockwell team compares the performance of Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT against Apple’s existing models, with Claude showing promising results. Meanwhile, Google continues to advance its Gemini AI features on Android devices, while Samsung leverages Google’s AI for its smartphones. Apple is also reportedly negotiating with Perplexity, which has ties to Motorola, to boost its AI capabilities. Despite hopes for LLM Siri, it was notably absent at Apple’s recent Worldwide Developers Conference, where standards were deemed unmet by SVP Greg Joswiak. Apple’s exploration of third-party AI integration remains in early development stages, alongside potential use of in-house models.
