Handshake and OpenAI have launched the Codex Creator Challenge, empowering students to access AI coding tools and showcase innovative projects directly to employers. This initiative leverages Handshake’s career network—supporting hiring, internships, and early career development—by integrating OpenAI’s Codex tool. Partnering with employers such as GEICO, L’Oréal, and KPFF Consulting Engineers, the challenge encourages students to build AI-powered projects rather than merely complete courses. As highlighted in a LinkedIn post, this initiative transitions students from theory to practical application, enabling skill growth for the AI-driven job market. Participants receive $100 in Codex credits and can submit multiple entries until April 30, 2026. Projects are evaluated based on clarity, usefulness, creativity, and execution, with top submissions advancing to final judging, where prizes include up to $10,000 in OpenAI API credits and a ChatGPT Plus subscription. Eligible U.S. students aged 18 and over can partake in this transformative opportunity.
