Apple is poised to enhance its AI capabilities with an updated Siri, powered by Google’s Gemini models, set to debut in iOS 27. This new iteration, referred to as Siri Extensions, will allow users to integrate third-party chatbots, like Anthropic’s Claude, directly within Siri. Additionally, Apple plans to launch an AI App Store, creating a dedicated marketplace for AI services to interface with Siri. This strategy aims to bolster Apple’s revenue while providing AI companies broader exposure amid its struggle to develop internal AI models. The Gemini-powered Siri, codenamed Campo, is anticipated to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8, 2026, with the full release coinciding with the next-gen iPhone 18 Pro series in fall 2026. The new Siri promises improved functionality for task completion and information access, and Apple is exploring a standalone Siri app to enhance chatbot-like interactions, similar to ChatGPT.
