Telia Finland has raised alarms regarding the emerging dangers of “shadow AI” within organizations, highlighting significant data security concerns. As Artificial Intelligence tools and virtual assistants rapidly integrate into workplaces, they introduce new safeguarding challenges. Pirkko Filtness, director of Telia’s information security division, emphasized that while AI capabilities are increasingly embedded in corporate tools, employees also adopt unapproved AI products they find beneficial for their tasks. This unsanctioned use can lead to exposure and vulnerabilities. Traditional bans on such tools are ineffective; companies must enhance their security strategies to mitigate risks associated with shadow AI.
