OpenAI has announced a significant reorganization due to healthcare challenges faced by CEO of AGI Deployment, Fidji Simo. During her medical leave, Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s president, will oversee product teams. Simo, who previously held the title of CEO of Applications, disclosed her struggles with a neuroimmune condition, emphasizing the toll of balancing health and work commitments. Additionally, Chief Marketing Officer Kate Rouch is also taking a leave for breast cancer treatment, with plans to return in a limited role. Meanwhile, COO Brad Lightcap shifts to a “special projects” role, managing engineers embedded within enterprises. OpenAI is searching for a new CMO and a chief communications officer, following the departure of Hannah Wong. With nearly 1 billion users and a recent $122 billion funding round, OpenAI remains focused on its core products, including ChatGPT, as it prepares for a potential IPO this year.
