Ask HN: Has Anyone Else Transitioned from AI Editors Back to the Terminal?

🚀 Navigating the World of Code with AI 🚀

In the ever-evolving landscape of coding tools, my journey has led me through various platforms, each with unique offerings and drawbacks. Here’s a quick overview of what I’ve experienced:

  • Cursor: Felt cumbersome, resembling a less efficient VSCode.
  • Windsurf: Lagged significantly, disrupting my workflow.
  • VSCode + Claude: A solid contender, yet excessive for my needs.
  • Warp: The rigid interface didn’t resonate with my style.
  • cmux: Suffered from lags, requiring more oversight than productivity.

Ultimately, I found my groove with Neovim and Claude Code, creating a pair-programming feel that has stuck.

Current Setup:

  • Ghostty for splits
  • Zsh with enhanced tools
  • Neovim with tailored plugins
