E-commerce leader Meesho is enhancing India’s AI and startup ecosystem by open-sourcing its in-house machine learning platform, BharatMLStack, now available on GitHub. Developed over two years, BharatMLStack processes nearly 1.91 petabytes of data, crucial for Meesho’s operations, including its feature store, orchestration interface, control plane, and software development kits (SDKs). These resources are vital for real-time AI applications, enabling an impressive 66.9 trillion feature retrievals and 3.12 trillion predictions in FY25, particularly during major sales events.
By releasing BharatMLStack, Meesho aims to empower AI and data teams to shorten model deployment times, benefiting startups focused on real-time applications such as fraud detection and personalized recommendations. A Meesho spokesperson noted the contribution as a commitment to the developer community essential for India’s digital growth. This initiative, alongside Meesho’s recent corporate restructuring, marks a pivotal moment in making enterprise-grade AI tools accessible, setting the stage for future innovations in the country.
