Meta Refutes Claims of CEO Mark Zuckerberg Offering $300M in AI Talent Incentives

Share

On Wednesday, Meta refuted claims that it offered $300 million to poach talent from OpenAI amid rising competition in artificial intelligence. Reports indicated that Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, proposed lucrative packages to at least 10 OpenAI employees, including equity options with significant early vesting. However, a Meta spokesperson dismissed these figures as exaggerated, noting they far exceed the substantial salaries of top executives in the tech industry.

Despite this, Meta has successfully recruited at least eight key OpenAI researchers, who are joining its new Superintelligence unit, led by Alexandr Wang. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, criticized Meta’s tactics and reassured his team of proactive measures to retain talent, expressing pride in their mission-driven culture.

Additionally, Meta’s recent launch of the Meta Superintelligence Labs signals a bold step in its AI strategy, bolstered by a significant investment in AI technologies.
