Google has enhanced its Gemini AI assistants, known as Gems, by integrating them into Workspace apps such as Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail. This expansion allows users to easily create and utilize chatbots tailored for specific tasks, eliminating the need to switch between applications. Pre-made Gems are available, including Writing Editor, Brainstormer, Learning Coach, and Coding Partner. Users can also design custom Gems to reduce repetitive tasks, enhanced by features like @-mentioning and file access. Google has outlined various use cases, such as using a copywriting Gem for targeted content creation or a customized assistant Gem to deliver relevant summaries. This feature rollout will occur over the coming weeks, available for Google Workspace customers through the side panel. Launched in August of the previous year for Business, Advanced, and Enterprise subscribers, users can easily create custom Gems via the URL or the Workspace panel option.
