Google has officially launched its Gemini AI assistant for Wear OS, initially teased at I/O 2025, now expanding to more devices beyond the Galaxy Watch 8 and Pixel Watch. This rollout will reach additional users with Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus watches running Wear OS 5 or older. Users can expect to see a Gemini app update available in the Wear OS Play Store, which may auto-update, notifying you when Gemini is accessible. To interact with Gemini, simply hold the side button or say “Hey Google” if enabled. Although Google is exploring features like a new raise-to-speak gesture, the Gemini experience enhances voice command effectiveness and understanding. However, Gemini requires a connection to your phone or LTE as it does not process data locally. If you still access the previous Assistant after the update, a watch restart may resolve the issue. Stay tuned for further updates on this AI integration in Wear OS.
