Meta’s AI Chief to Soon Take the Helm of Threads

Share

Meta is transitioning leadership for its text-based social app, Threads, from Instagram head Adam Mosseri to Connor Hayes, a long-time executive and former head of generative AI product. This significant change, starting in September, positions Threads more independently from Instagram, indicating Meta’s serious intent to develop the app further.

Hayes, who has been with Meta since 2011, will oversee all product, design, engineering, and research teams focused on Threads while still reporting to Mosseri. This leadership shift comes as Threads continues to grow, with reports showing it averages around 115 million mobile daily active users, closing the gap with X.

With Hayes’ expertise in AI, there is potential for Threads to integrate AI-driven features, possibly using the app as a testing ground before wider implementation across other Meta platforms. As Threads evolves, users are encouraged to share their experiences and thoughts about the app in the comments.
