WhatsApp is set to enhance its user experience with the introduction of a new AI-driven feature called Quick Recap. This tool will allow users to generate brief summaries of unread messages from multiple chats, making it easier to catch up without scrolling through lengthy threads. Currently in development, the feature is visible in Android version 2.25.21.12 and utilizes Meta’s Private Processing technology, ensuring that user data remains secure and end-to-end encrypted. Unlike previous message summaries that focused on individual chats, Quick Recap will let users select up to five conversations for a combined summary. Importantly, this feature will be optional and turned off by default, respecting user privacy settings, particularly for chats protected by Advanced Chat Privacy. Users can activate Quick Recap from the app’s settings, although its full rollout schedule remains unspecified.
