AMD and Stability AI have successfully ported Stable Diffusion 3.0 Medium to the Amuse AI art generator, enabling enhanced local image and text generation using only the NPU on AMD processors. This marks a significant step for AMD, especially as it competes with Intel in AI advancements. The new model, featured in Amuse 3.1, is now available for download, offering improved visuals compared to earlier iterations. Utilizing BF16 technology allows for broader response capabilities, albeit with a slight reduction in precision. Previously reliant on GPUs, the Stable Diffusion Medium can now be used on systems equipped with NPUs, expanding access to local AI art generation. Test results on an MSI Prestige A16 AI+ with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor demonstrated promising performance, generating images in about 90 seconds, albeit still slower than cloud solutions. Current limitations include square image output, though upscaling is possible. Continuous improvements indicate a bright future for local AI art.
