AMD AI Enhancements Make Stable Diffusion 3.0 Medium Accessible on Laptops with Under 32GB RAM

At Computex last month, AMD unveiled the first block FP16 stable diffusion model in collaboration with Stability AI, showcasing an innovative approach that merges FP16 accuracy with INT8 performance. The newly released SD 3.0 Medium is now downloadable for users on Ryzen AI 300 and Ryzen AI MAX+ laptops, leveraging the Ryzen AI XDNA 2 NPU for impressive local AI capabilities. This advanced model significantly enhances image quality while requiring a minimum of 24GB of system memory. Users can experience these improvements by downloading Amuse 3.1 via Tensorstack and activating HQ mode to utilize the ‘XDNA 2 NPU Stable Diffusion 3′ feature. Notably, Stable Diffusion 3 Medium operates efficiently on laptops with 24GB RAM, consuming just 9GB of memory. The AMD XDNA 2 NPU further optimizes image outputs, boosting resolutions from 2MP to 4MP. For enthusiasts in generative AI, this upgrade marks a substantial enhancement.
