Google’s Gemini app has surpassed 450 million monthly active users, with daily usage increasing over 50% from the previous quarter, as highlighted by Shekar Khosla, VP of Marketing at Google India. This milestone follows Google’s initiative offering free access to its premium Google AI Pro plan, valued at Rs 19,500 annually, for Indian college students over 18, valid until September 15, 2025. Launched in India in June, the Gemini app and its advanced version are now available in nine regional languages, including Hindi and Tamil. Users can easily access it on Android devices through various methods. Additionally, at the Google I/O Connect India 2025 event, the tech giant announced onshore processing for Gemini 2.5 Flash to enhance AI performance for Indian developers across sectors such as healthcare and finance. Collaborations with Indian AI startups like Sarvam and IIT Bombay aim to further develop AI models for local applications.
