DOGE Launches AI Initiative to Target Elimination of 50% of Federal Regulations

A recent Washington Post report reveals that DOGE is leveraging an innovative AI tool, the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool, to analyze and simplify federal regulations. The comprehensive analysis identified that approximately 100,000 of over 200,000 regulations could be eliminated. Aiming for efficiency, DOGE has set a September 1 deadline for agencies to compile their deregulation lists using this tool, which can expedite the process in under four weeks. The primary focus is on regulations deemed unnecessary by law. The tool has already been successfully implemented by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the latter using it to assess 1,083 regulatory sections. Though some HUD employees noted inaccuracies in the tool’s interpretation of legal texts, DOGE plans to train more agencies in the coming month. For an in-depth understanding, visit The Washington Post for the full report.
