Months after OpenAI’s viral Ghibli-style image trend, Google has introduced a creative feature in its Gemini chatbot that generates crochet-style visuals from user prompts. In a recent post, Google showcased AI-generated images of Indian cities in crochet form, verified by ETtech, highlighting the tool’s ability to create diverse visuals, including crochet-style rooms, cars, and Bollywood scenes based on text input. However, Gemini restricts users from recreating personal images, preventing misuse related to deepfakes or identity fraud. Additionally, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the integration of Gemini’s photo-to-video tool into YouTube Shorts and Google Photos, allowing photo remixing into videos, comics, and 3D animations. Available in select countries since July 23, the feature leverages Veo 2, Google’s advanced video generation model. With over 450 million monthly active users, Gemini’s growth has been further fueled by free access for Indian college students to its premium plan until September 2025.
