Starting August 6, 2025, all U.S. government employees will gain access to ChatGPT, following a deal between OpenAI and the General Services Administration (GSA). The advanced ChatGPT Enterprise will be available at a minimal cost of just $1 annually for federal agencies. This initiative aligns with former President Trump’s AI Action Plan, aimed at enhancing public service efficiency through state-of-the-art AI tools. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, emphasized this partnership’s role in affirming U.S. leadership in AI technology. With over 2 million government employees currently engaged in various sectors, the adoption of ChatGPT is anticipated to save approximately 95 minutes daily on routine tasks. The GSA, under Acting Administrator Michael Rigas, champions this AI integration, showcasing the government’s commitment to improving service delivery through technology. This collaboration is part of OpenAI’s strategy to boost ChatGPT’s user base, which already sees around 700 million weekly users, ensuring that public servants are equipped with advanced technology for enhanced productivity.
