OpenAI has reached a groundbreaking agreement to provide over 2 million US federal workers with access to ChatGPT and its advanced tools for just $1 per agency for one year. This announcement follows a recent blanket deal signed by the General Services Administration (GSA) allowing OpenAI and competitors like Google and Anthropic to supply federal agencies with AI resources. Federal workers will benefit from ChatGPT Enterprise, featuring enhanced data privacy and robust capabilities, including high token limits. Moreover, they’ll experience advanced features like Deep Research and Advanced Voice Mode for an initial 60 days. After the one-year evaluation, agencies can choose not to renew. This initiative supports the Trump Administration’s AI Action Plan, aimed at optimizing efficiency and reducing bureaucracy, ultimately enabling federal workers to focus on serving Americans. With a prior pilot program at the Department of Defense, this step represents a significant advancement in federal AI integration.
