Since its launch in late 2022, ChatGPT sparked an intense AI race, prompting giants like Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic to release their own AI solutions. Notably absent was Apple, which focused on AI features in 2024, particularly a revamped Siri. Although generative AI tools, including writing assistants and image generators, are available, Siri lacks conversational abilities. For chatbot experiences, users currently rely on third-party apps.
Recently, Apple introduced an “automated chat feature” in its Support app. This experimental chatbot assists with technical queries, offering solutions based on Apple’s extensive support articles. However, it’s limited to tech support; attempts to engage on other topics are redirected. Users are cautioned that the bot may generate inaccurate information. Overall, while Apple’s automated Support Assistant shows promise in resolving tech issues, it doesn’t provide a full chatbot experience akin to ChatGPT.
