If users are suspected to be under 18, YouTube will activate digital wellbeing features, limit video recommendations, and disable personalized ads, thus protecting minors from inappropriate content.
While this initiative is a step forward in enhancing online safety for younger audiences, it has raised privacy concerns as users may need to verify their age through government IDs or credit cards. Despite potential inaccuracies in age classification, YouTube aims to strike a balance between safety and user experience.
