Unlocking Purposeful Tech Integration in K–12 Schools Through AI Training Opportunities

K–12 leaders are encouraged to utilize resources from the National Academy for AI Instruction and CoSN’s AI Initiative, aimed at equipping educators with vital AI skills. The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) will provide training modules to help teachers effectively integrate AI tools into their classrooms, fostering digital fluency. According to Microsoft’s Naria Santa Lucia, this initiative aims to close the digital equity gap by making AI resources accessible to all educators, including those hesitant or in remote areas. CoSN complements this by focusing on a systemic mindset shift, encouraging strategic planning among district leaders to ensure equitable AI access. Training will commence this fall at AFT headquarters in Manhattan, expanding nationwide. Both initiatives emphasize the importance of thoughtful integration of AI in education, moving beyond mere tool adoption to foster long-term transformative practices in K–12 institutions. By embracing these resources, schools can better prepare for the evolving digital landscape.
