Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming India’s job market, according to Indeed’s Work Ahead Report. Based on surveys from over 3,000 professionals, 43% feel optimistic about using technologies like generative and agentic AI in the next few years. Mid-career professionals (ages 35-54) lead in confidence, with nearly half (49%) prepared for AI-enabled workplaces compared to younger workers (18-24). However, 56% of mid-career respondents seek enhanced training support.
AI has transitioned from hype to reality, with a third of professionals anticipating regular use of generative AI and one in four preparing for agentic AI. This shift is also evident among blue-collar workers, with 70% noting technology’s positive impact on their roles.
Despite growing confidence, concerns about job security linger, with nearly one-third of respondents wary of falling behind. There’s a strong demand for targeted upskilling opportunities, marking a pivotal change where AI skills are crucial for employability and career advancement.
