Users can now convert text documents into audio files, enabling them to listen to their content for easier digestion and convenience while on the move. This feature, which mirrors capabilities from Google’s NotebookLM, allows readers to simply click a button to listen to documents. Users can find it under the Tools menu by selecting “Audio” and “Listen to this tab”. While the audio generation feature is a significant upgrade for accessibility in Google Docs, it lacks some advanced functionalities present in NotebookLM, such as generating podcasts with AI hosts. Access to this feature is available for users on Google Workspace Business or Enterprise plans, or those subscribed to Google’s AI Pro or Ultra plans. Expect a gradual rollout, so refreshing Google Docs might help in accessing the new feature sooner.
