Anthropic has launched Claude Gov, an exclusive AI model for U.S. national security customers, targeting government agencies already using similar technology. This move comes amid intense competition among AI firms, including OpenAI, which released ChatGPT Gov for agencies like the Space Force. Companies are increasingly partnering with cloud providers vetted through the FedRAMP process, currently being revamped, to enhance their technology’s accessibility in government settings. Claude Gov is tailored to manage classified information, particularly excelling in languages critical for national security, aiming to meet unique operational needs and constraints of governmental environments. Anthropic’s collaboration with Palantir also aims to facilitate access to Claude systems via Amazon Web Services. While initially approved for use by the Department of Homeland Security, access was later retracted in favor of internal tools.
