Is travel planning the next frontier for AI? A recent survey by Talker Research reveals that younger Americans increasingly rely on AI tools like ChatGPT to plan their vacations. Among 2,000 Americans surveyed, only 29% of millennials and 33% of Gen Z have never tapped into AI for travel planning, contrasting sharply with the 70% of baby boomers who haven’t adopted this technology. Key uses of AI include comparing flight prices and generating trip itineraries, with 29% of respondents seeking destination suggestions and 20% allowing AI to create detailed plans featuring local attractions. While traditional word-of-mouth recommendations remain popular, YouTube (34%) is now the primary source of travel inspiration, surpassing family (30%) and friends (28%). Gen Z favors TikTok for travel ideas at 52%, compared to 27% of millennials and a mere 2% of boomers. As AI advances, its role in travel planning is set to expand.
