OpenAI is developing an AI-focused jobs platform to compete with LinkedIn and enhance skill verification for AI users. As announced by CEO Fidji Simo, the initiative aims to connect employers, such as Walmart and Boston Consulting Group, with candidates, leveraging AI for efficient candidate matching. Walmart, the U.S.’s largest private employer, is collaborating on this platform, set to launch by mid-2026. Additionally, OpenAI is expanding its free OpenAI Academy, which has assisted over two million individuals in acquiring AI skills. The Academy will offer certifications, including those developed in partnership with Walmart, to empower workers, especially in the IT sector. OpenAI targets to deliver 10 million certifications in the next five years, positioning itself against major players like LinkedIn, which boasts over one billion members, and Indeed, with 615 million job seekers. These developments aim to enhance career opportunities and skill verification in an increasingly AI-driven job market.
