Aston University and University of Leeds Secure £3.4 Million Funding for AI Tools Research Development Network — EdTech Innovation Hub

The AI Researcher Development Network Plus (AI.RDN+) brings together eight Midlands Innovation research universities and 12 from the Yorkshire Universities consortium to address the challenges posed by widely-used AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot in academia. By consulting PhD researchers, supervisors, and supporting staff, AI.RDN+ aims to create a comprehensive resource base that includes guidance on utilizing these AI tools effectively while showcasing best practices through case studies. Led by Professor Phil Mizen of Aston University, the initiative focuses on fostering understanding of AI’s impact within the doctoral ecosystem, aiming for ethical and responsible usage in research. Concurrently, the EdTech Innovation Hub Awards 2026 celebrate excellence in educational technology, emphasizing innovation in AI integration, workforce development, and learning solutions across all education stages. Open for global entries, the awards seek to highlight transformative impacts in education, with winners announced on January 14, 2026, during an online showcase.
