Tammy Divens, teaching professor and program coordinator of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Penn State Shenango, has received the prestigious 2025 Faculty Engagement Award from Penn State Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT). This award focuses on “Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Teaching,” aimed at transforming teaching methodologies through innovative technology. Divens plans to explore AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot 365 to enhance course planning and instructional delivery. According to recent data, 85% of students reported using generative AI for coursework in the past year, with 43% positively supporting its thoughtful use by faculty. Divens leverages AI for creating course materials, engaging videos, and interactive content, significantly enriching the learning experience. Her collaboration with TLT includes working with instructional designers to optimize technology integration and sharing findings with the Penn State community, positioning her as a pioneer in modern educational practices.
