IU Unveils AI Resources for Students and Faculty: Insights from University Experts

Indiana University (IU) is leading in AI education with the launch of its GenAI 101 course and the upcoming ChatGPT Edu. This initiative aims to equip students and faculty with essential generative AI tools in response to the growing prevalence of AI in higher education. Over 85% of college students have reportedly utilized generative AI for academic tasks in the past year.

The GenAI 101 course, co-developed by technology experts Brian Williams and Anne Leftwich, comprises eight modules designed for beginners, featuring 31 short videos and interactive elements provided by an AI assistant named Crimson. Students learn to create custom AI assistants, enhancing productivity and critical thinking.

Additionally, ChatGPT Edu will offer enhanced security, ensuring that IU’s data remains confidential. With over 30,000 individuals already using the service, IU’s commitment to ethical AI application and innovative learning prepares students for modern careers while addressing potential AI challenges.
