His comments come amid rising concerns about job losses due to AI advancements. Altman remarked that while AI currently operates at a basic level, it will evolve into a more capable entity akin to an experienced software engineer. He reassured that individuals won’t lose their jobs directly to AI but rather to those who effectively leverage it. Contrasting Altman’s views, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned that AI might eliminate nearly half of entry-level white-collar jobs within five years. Meanwhile, Google CEO Sundar Pichai expressed more optimism, stating that AI would act as an “accelerator,” enabling humans to focus on creative tasks while confirming plans for hiring software engineers, thus challenging the bleak outlook posed by Amodei.
