Nvidia is set to revolutionize the UK data center landscape by supplying up to 120,000 advanced GPUs, driven by investments from industry leaders like Microsoft, OpenAI, Nscale, and CoreWeave. Nscale, in collaboration with Microsoft, will utilize 23,000 Nvidia chips to establish Britain’s largest AI supercomputer in Loughton, Essex, receiving around half of the GPUs. OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman emphasized that Stargate UK’s introduction of 8,000 GPUs will enhance scientific innovation, productivity, and economic growth. Microsoft reveals a substantial commitment, investing £22 billion over four years, primarily directed towards AI infrastructure and ongoing operations, showcasing a focus on tangible advancements rather than mere promises. Additionally, Google inaugurated a new data center in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, pledging £5 billion for development in the UK over the next two years.
