Apple Surpasses Android by Granting Apps Access to AI Tools

Apple has announced that it will provide third-party apps with direct, offline access to its on-device AI model, enhancing its Apple Intelligence platform. During WWDC 2025, Apple revealed that developers can utilize the new Foundation Models framework with as little as three lines of Swift code, making it easy to integrate generative AI features without needing an internet connection. This development allows any iOS app to implement useful functionalities, such as automatic quiz generation from notes or natural language search for hiking trails. By processing data locally, Apple emphasizes enhanced privacy protection. Testing of the new tools begins today, with a public beta expected next month, and a full rollout slated for fall on supported devices.
