Luxshare Shares Surge 10% Following Report of OpenAI Hardware Partnership

Luxshare Precision’s stock surged by 10% after reports emerged that the Shenzhen-based company signed a deal with OpenAI to develop a consumer AI device, potentially resembling a smart speaker without a display. This innovative device, powered by ChatGPT large language models, aims to compete with Apple’s Siri-enabled products, with initial launches planned for late 2026 or early 2027. Luxshare, a key Apple supplier, has seen its shares rise nearly 50% year-to-date. OpenAI has been actively recruiting talent, including poaching from Apple, to bolster its hardware division led by ex-Apple executive Tang Tan. The AI firm previously acquired Jony Ive’s startup for $6.4 billion, tapping into the design expertise behind iconic Apple products. OpenAI is also exploring partnerships with other manufacturers, including Goertek, for component supply. This collaboration marks a significant move in OpenAI’s strategy to penetrate the consumer hardware market, challenging established giants like Apple.
