Companies Unprepared for AI-Driven Security Threats | Information Age

A recent survey reveals that fewer than a third of IT leaders feel prepared for AI-driven cyberattacks, highlighting a critical cybersecurity gap. With 61% acknowledging a rise in risks from AI-enabled criminals, only 31% exhibit confidence in managing these threats, as outlined in Lenovo’s Reinforcing the Modern Workplace report. Alarmingly, 70% of respondents see employee misuse of AI as a major concern, while just 13% believe they have adequate cybersecurity capabilities against these advancements. The adoption of autonomous AI agents is also a rising threat, with 60% identifying them as a potential insider risk; yet only 37% feel equipped to handle this challenge. Simultaneous breaches affecting airports underscore the urgency, Worryingly, 83% of IT leaders prioritize data protection, but 54% remain unsure about mitigating AI-related risks. Organizations must urgently ramp up their cybersecurity measures to counteract the escalating threats posed by AI.
