Nvidia Corp is set to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to enhance AI infrastructure, including data centers for advanced AI models. Announced on Monday, this strategic partnership aims to build data centers with a total capacity of at least 10 gigawatts, utilizing Nvidia’s cutting-edge chips essential for training and deploying AI like ChatGPT. The initial $10 billion will be provided upon signing, with further funds tied to the deployment of gigawatts. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that this is a “giant project” aimed at powering the future of intelligence, equating the energy capacity to New York City’s peak demand. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated this investment will facilitate breakthroughs in AI by ensuring adequate computing power, a key factor in meeting the increasing demand for AI products, such as ChatGPT, which is used by approximately 700 million people weekly. The partnership reflects the booming AI market and Nvidia’s commitment to its customers.
