OpenAI Academy Marks One Year with 2 Million Learners, 670,000 Members, and Global Events Celebration

OpenAI Academy celebrates its first anniversary as a free online and in-person learning platform aimed at developing AI skills. Under Alex Nawar’s leadership, the Academy has reached over 2 million users and grown its membership to 670,000 globally. The program hosted 18 in-person events across U.S. cities, with participation from 2,500 individuals, including scientists and nonprofit leaders. Additionally, two international events occurred in India and Mexico, while nearly 90,000 attended 37 virtual sessions. Notable partnerships with organizations like Common Sense Media and AI Impact Hub have led to tailored resources for diverse audiences, enhancing educational impact. Testimonials highlight transformative experiences, such as a Nigerian developer launching a custom GPT within 24 hours of a webinar. Future plans include OpenAI Certifications and the OpenAI Jobs Platform, expected to roll out between late 2025 and early 2026. The Academy aims to expand language offerings and invites community groups to host local events.
