Lucknow Police have dismantled an inter-state ‘solver gang’ engaged in exam malpractice for the IBPS Clerk Exam 2025. This gang exploited AI-based photo manipulation and used impostors to take exams on behalf of candidates. Authorities revealed that the group employed advanced software to alter photos, achieving 70% resemblance between the impostors and actual examinees. The operation led by Deputy Commissioner Nipun Agarwal resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, including mastermind Anand Kumar. Law enforcement recovered 16 mobile phones, 21 fake IDs, and Rs 1.53 lakh during the police raid. The gang charged candidates exorbitantly—up to Rs 5.2 lakh—including fees for preliminary and main exams. Arrested members face charges of forgery and cheating under the Indian Penal Code and the Public Examinations Act. Investigators are delving into seized digital evidence to trace additional network components. This crackdown highlights the growing use of technology in exam fraud.
