Google’s Jules Coding Agent Now Integrates CLI and API Features

Google Labs has unveiled Jules Tools and the Jules API, enhancing software development functionality. Announced on October 2, Jules Tools serves as a command-line interface (CLI) that integrates the Jules coding agent directly into developers’ terminals. This allows for seamless interaction, enabling users to start, stop, and verify tasks while running their own commands. Jules operates asynchronously across various stages of the software development life cycle, including code generation, test writing, bug fixing, pull request creation, and dependency updates. In addition, the Jules API is currently in early preview mode, enabling developers to incorporate Jules into custom workflows and CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions. This integration facilitates the automation of bug fixing and code reviews. Furthermore, it allows developers to embed Jules’s capabilities within popular tools such as Slack, Linear, Jira, and GitHub, streamlining development processes and enhancing productivity.
