Physicians View AI as Both a Valuable Tool and a Potential Threat

admin

A recent survey shows that over half of U.S. physicians are integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their practices, primarily for documentation and diagnostics, yet many feel ill-equipped to handle associated risks. Conducted by Inlightened, the survey revealed that while 57% of physicians use AI tools, only 28% believe they can fully leverage these technologies responsibly. Concerns about accountability and patient trust persist, with nearly 40% of respondents indicating that their organizations lack guidelines for AI use. Conversely, many physicians express optimism about AI’s potential to enhance patient outcomes and reduce clinical burnout. However, there are significant worries regarding liability and data breaches. To gain confidence in AI, over half of the physicians seek real-world case studies and independent training. The report suggests that healthcare innovators should focus on developing transparent and human-centered AI solutions to foster trust and better integration into clinical practice.
