Despite a rising acceptance of AI tools in academia, the university’s reliance on AI detection software, such as Turnitin, has generated mistrust. Critics argue that students are unfairly burdened to prove their innocence and that the investigative process is often intrusive. The university has since ceased using the Turnitin AI tool, yet many cases still see prolonged scrutiny, raising concerns about academic integrity and ethical treatment of students.
