CoreWeave to Supply Computing Power for Google’s OpenAI Partnership, According to Reports

admin

CoreWeave is set to provide computing capacity to OpenAI through a deal with Google, which will sell this capability via its cloud services. This agreement follows Google Cloud’s capacity deal with OpenAI, despite competition from Google’s DeepMind unit and concerns over ChatGPT’s impact on Google’s search business. CoreWeave will facilitate a leasing structure similar to past arrangements involving OpenAI and Microsoft. While OpenAI previously had a lock-in agreement solely with Microsoft for cloud resources, the need for additional capacity prompted them to partner with CoreWeave. OpenAI’s strategy includes diversifying cloud partners, as seen with the $500 billion Stargate project in collaboration with multiple investors, and exploring further investments in global data centers. Alongside a recent $4 billion deal with CoreWeave, OpenAI is also drawing attention from Oracle for additional U.S. data center capacity, bolstering its cloud infrastructure despite ongoing competitive dynamics.
